Copper + Zinc: Strategic Mineral Balance in Cattle and Swine

During the winter season, mineral deficiencies tend to silently impact the productive and reproductive performance of herds.

In bovine and swine production systems, mineral deficiencies represent one of the most frequent causes of productive disorders, often manifesting in a subclinical form. These deficiencies are not always explained by low mineral concentrations in the diet, but also by imbalances between them that interfere with their correct absorption and metabolic utilisation.

At Chinfield, we developed Copper + Zinc, an injectable vitamin-mineral supplement formulated for cattle and swine, especially indicated for use during the winter season (June–July), a critical period in terms of nutritional and health requirements.

Its formulation is characterised by a high concentration of copper, combined with the contribution of zinc, iodine, cobalt and manganese — essential minerals for the correct functioning of the immune system, bone development, reproductive efficiency and overall metabolism. The product supplies these minerals in slow-release derivative form and at appropriate doses.

Copper + Zinc Chinfield is indicated in cases of copper, zinc, iodine, cobalt and manganese deficiency, as a general restorative, in reproductive disorders associated with mineral deficiencies and in deficiency-related osteopathies. It is a strategic tool, particularly when mineral imbalances limiting absorption are suspected.

Target species

  • Cattle
  • Swine

Application strategy

Administration is recommended to coincide with vaccinations and deworming, as well as at key stages of the productive and reproductive cycle:

  • Heifers: 60 days prior to breeding
  • Pregnant cows: 60 days prior to calving
  • Post-partum females: 20–30 days
  • Calves: between 30 and 60 days of age and at weaning
  • Bulls: at the start, during and at the end of the breeding season
  • Swine: according to body weight

Administration is subcutaneous, following the recommended doses for each category.

Considerations

A prior assessment of the type of mineral deficiency is recommended. Do not administer to tired or exhausted animals, and avoid increasing the dosage in very young animals.
