Vademecum
Ketamina 100 Chinfield
General Anesthetic
Benefits:
General anesthetic of use alone or as inducer of general anesthesia with inhaled agents. Ketamine is a quick action general anesthetic with significant analgesic activity and absence of depressing effects of the cardiorespiratory system. It inhibits the transmission the impulses through the reticular system which prevents the impulses from reaching the brain cortex.
This induces a grade 1 and 2 anesthesia level, but not status 3. In felines, it induces little hypothermia with a reduction of temperature of approximately 1.5 to 1.7 C after a therapeutical dose.
